Abstract

The entrepreneur and collector Julia Lehner was one of the first to graduate from the Master-Course in Collection Studies and Management at Danube University Krems, in which Barbara Margarethe Eggert was a lecturer. The interview is about the challenges of an exhibition concept and/or the development and founding of a museum for dolls and toys, respectively, as well as the biography-related experiences of the collector against the background of the historical story(s) of the meaning of dolls and a corresponding doll-specific exhibition practice.

Dr. phil. Barbara Margarethe Eggert, Linz University of the Arts

Dr. phil. in art history with a focus on comics research, exhibition theory and practice; important non-university stations: San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein; together with Anja Grebe, development of the MA course Collection Studies and Management at Danube University Krems and director until moving to the Institute for Art and Education at the University of Art in Linz in February 2019.

Julia Lehner, Dollhouse Museum in St. Thomas am Blasenstein

M. A. in Collection Studies and Management, currently studying MBA in Tourism; founder and director of the Doll's House Museum in St. Thomas am Blasenstein (Lower Austria), where she has been presenting her own collection since 2010; she is currently devoting herself and her family to restoring the fabric of Kranichberg Castle, where new exhibition rooms for the Lehner Collection are being built and the Toy Museum at Kranichberg Castle will be established.
