Abstract

This contribution deals with human-material affinities as they become an arena for political-historical dynamics in the German program Das Messie-Team – Start in ein neues Leben (RTL2). With the help of a stuffed animal called Checkpoint Charlie it is shown how German history is also negotiated and medially shaped in places where it at first does not seem to play any further role.
