Abstract

The Swedish series Real Humans raises questions about the essence of humanity in a narration on androids with human-like artificial intelligence and emotions, who live in human society in a nearby future. Besides several other topics gender and gender relations are addressed. In order to successfully pass as human, a certain strategy of gender-performance is made use of. In the article it is investigated how this is conducted in the filmic representation.

M.A., research assistant in the Department of Education and Difference at the FernUniversität in Hagen, she holds a Master's degree in Literature and Cultural Studies in the subjects English Studies including American Studies and Philosophy.
