Abstract

Starting from Barbie doll, which has been popular for decades, the article examines the Barbie media network that has emerged, especially with regard to gender stereotypes performed here. It is argued for the application of a transmedial perspective as a basis for methodical and practical projects in the context of gender-sensitive literature teaching. With reference to examples of different Barbie media forms, the question is examined to what extent the didactic potential of transmedial approaches can be used in this way with the help of the puppet motif. The preliminary findings refer to the chances and limitations of such an approach in connection with Barbie.
